Dear csgal,

I only recently became a member of your website. My good friend, tgreer, referred me, although now I'm not sure I should thank him.

This is not easy for me to admit, but I have a problem: I've become addicted to answering posts in the forum. At first, it was a curiosity, but soon it flourished into a genuine desire to help those starting on this journey. Now it's an obsession, and I can't stop checking the forums for new posts. Instead of doing the work assigned to me by my employer, I'm daniweb'n. (I hope my employer is not familiar with daniweb.) Instead of working on my own projects in the evening, I'm daniweb'n. Friends and family are directed to voicemail because of my daniweb'n ways. Sometimes I skip meals and sleep to daniweb.

Am I alone? Are there any 12 step programs that can help me? Do you have a volunteer restriction program like the casinos have where I can give you my name and you either limit me to like 5 posts a day or ban me altogether?

Sincerely obsessed,
Troy

Are you the same guy in VBForums that ask the mods to ban you(for same reason) for a whole month(and actually got your wish!)?

No, but that's funny! By the way, thanks for being so active yourself.

SEE MY DISEASE?! I just answered another daniweb post! Right now. You are reading my post right now. What you are reading right now is evidence of my sickness. Man, I need help.

life-less

How can you criticise people who give so much of their time towards helping others with problems on PCs and internet.

Personally I see that as selfless.

What are you doing on this forum if you are not here to seek the help from these very people.

life-less

I'm guessing he's one of these people that think having a life is either nothing but sports, playing video games, or watching tv. At least we """""""lifeless""""""" people do something constructive. One day you'll be working for one of us, if not all ready.

I've become addicted to answering posts in the forum.

Hmm...

Profile info for Troy:
Total Posts: 96 (4.60 posts per day)

4.6 posts per day??

Bloody Slacker...

LOL

That's not an addiction - it's an occasional pastime :D

he he.
Should we tell them about the shakes, cold sweats, divorces, and other joyous symptoms that start to set in after the 1,000-post mark?

What's going to happen to you?

You'll be attacked and eaten alive by rabid marsupials in exactly 477 posts, that's what.

0

huh? Those rabid marsupials, I'll hazard a guess, must reside in the wilds of North and South America. We keep our Australian brethren free from that vile disease!

Planning to send him to the wilds of the Brazilian rainforests, perhaps?

I'll tell you again:

If you haven't noticed computers and the internet are a lifestyle.

Thankfully my career, interests, and at times addictive personality, converge nicely-- in a DSL line.

I have been spending alot of time here lately (perhaps only monitoring posts and reading C++ advice more than posting helpful replys) Its nice and what I have been looking for-- social but in a technically-related arena where people actually understand what I am speaking of and probably care. Thank-you <DaniWeb>.

I'm disappointed. No one wanted to use my nifty new search bbcode to produce [search]wombat[/search]
