What do you always forget how to do, no matter how many times you’ve done it?
This is an easy one for me: SPHINX! I keep for the life of me forgetting how to upload changes to the config file to the Sphinx server and then re-run the search indexer. It got so bad that James had to create a shell script for me to do it all by just typing 'sphinx' into one of the web servers.

For those of you who think that I should totally abandon Sphinx, because it seems to be not only the oldest technology I currently maintain, but also annoying for me to maintain, then yes, you are absolutely correct. I probably should. However, Sphinx is used in our patents, and so I'd rather figure out how to migrate to a modern version of Sphinx than abandon it entirely.

Aww. Markdown feels very intuitive to me. Have you tried using a standalone Markdown editor when composing longer posts?

I used to use MarkDownPad but for months it has refused to start. I just get
I've uninstalled and re-installed a couple of times with no luck. When I try to submit a bug report I just get
"An error occurred while submitting the bug report. Please try again."
Did the company go out of business and the error message is when the app tries to phone home? That’s what it sounds like based on what you’re saying.
The MarkdownPad website is still up, and it still works on another laptop. Hinestly, I've been having so many problems with my ASUS it could just be another one to add to the pile. I've been avoiding another Windows refresh install but it looks like I'll have to bite the bullet.
