hi, my system is in workgroup and daily i am working thru it. today i was not able to access internet or can ping to any other system or server.but if i am connecting that same cable to another cpu its working.so i have checked the option assign automatically.now its working.but i want to know why its not working when the ip is assigned.plz let me know

May be your IP has expired and the DNS server didn't renew it. Just go to start >> run >> print "cmd" to get into the command prompt window. Now write ipconfig /renew.
If it doesn't work write ipconfig /flushdns >> press enter and then ipconfig /renew.

maybe you have your dhcp client service turned off
