One of my clients is considering breaking their main corporate site into 7 separate sites, each focusing on a different vertical market they sell into. Each site will feature the same product offering (they are a solution provider for Microsoft and they focus on one product only) but each site will have a different flavor based on the target market.
Has anyone ever done something like this and if so what was the success rate and what were some of the pitfalls? I am trying to manage expectations going forward.
