Hello,

I have been submitting my blog pages to Digg and Stumbleupon but really don't know what else to do to get traffic to these sites.

What I have been doing is to submit my pages to these sites.

What else should I do to get traffic to them?

Thanks.

Quick context (important for anyone reading this old thread): StumbleUpon stopped operating on June 30, 2018 and its accounts/favorites were transitioned to Mix; Digg was later rebooted under founder Kevin Rose with Alexis Ohanian (announced in 2025) so both platforms today work differently than they did in 2010–2011. (medium.com)

Practical technical wins missing from the replies: make each page “share-ready” so any submission actually looks appealing and gets clicks. At minimum publish a clear one-line summary, a single large social image (roughly 1200×630 for Open Graph), and add Open Graph + Twitter/X card meta tags. Example minimal snippet:

<meta property="og:title" content="Your post title" />
<meta property="og:description" content="Short 1–2 line summary" />
<meta property="og:image" content="https://example.com/path/social-image.jpg" />
<meta property="og:url" content="https://example.com/your-post" />
<meta name="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image" />

Validate with the Open Graph / sharing debugger and X/Twitter card tools after publishing so caches refresh. (ogp.me)

Turn activity into measurable experiments rather than blind submission: tag every distribution link with UTM parameters and track them in Google Analytics (use the Campaign URL Builder to avoid mistakes). Seed one controlled test (Mix collection + one niche community or Digg entry + a small paid boost), wait 48–72 hours, then compare sessions, engagement and conversion by campaign/source. Iterate on headline, image and placement. ()

Action checklist that operationalizes advice from , and :

  • Add OG/Twitter meta tags and a 1200×630 hero image.
  • Generate UTM-tagged links and log them in a simple spreadsheet.
  • Seed a Mix collection, post context-rich links to one targeted community, and run a small paid promo; measure and repeat.

This preserves the “community” angle other posters recommended but makes it testable and measurable given how Digg/Mix work today.
