Hi there!

Newbie to the site, very excited - lots of information for me to use.

I work for a small company that offers third party hardware support for Network Attached Storage / Storage Area Networks (NAS/SAN)

I have been in charge of the email marketing to our list of several thousand customers for the past 14 months. We have been using an email service provider called Constant Contact.

While the service worked, i did not set it up correctly (organize it) and it does not track information as well as i want it to (for us, 1 customer can mean anywhere from a $300 sale, up to a $70,000-$200,000+ sale)

We have an amazing database that we have built in Filemaker Pro (I am the DB admin/developer) - being the numbers guy i am, i love tracking everything i can.

I am in the market for a new Email Marketing Service. I found this website:

But i am partially unsure about those ratings.

I can not seem to find any website online that discuss email marketing services, and read reviews from users.

Does anyone have any experiances with online Email Marketing Services?

Thanks for all your help!

A focused checklist and integration plan for a high-value B2B email program (thread context: is tracking large, variable-sale customers; several members suggested trying different ESPs and test campaigns).

First, pick a provider that exposes a full API and webhooks, supports custom fields/tags and per-message metadata, and allows exporting event-level logs. Prioritize reliable deliverability features (SPF/DKIM support, bounce handling, complaint reporting) and the option for a dedicated IP if sending volume or IP reputation control matters. As noted, price matters, but for high-ticket accounts the ability to attribute revenue is worth paying for.

Practical data model to build in FileMaker Pro: a canonical persistent contact key (e.g., FM_ContactID), email, name, company, subscription_status, tags, last_sent, last_opened, last_clicked, bounce_count, complaint_flag, total_revenue, last_purchase_id. Add an email_events table to store event_type, event_timestamp, campaign_id, message_id, contact_key, link_url (or link_id), and revenue_attribution. Use that table to join campaign activity to sales records.

Tracking and attribution workflow: include the persistent contact key and a campaign identifier on every tracked link (URL param or redirect short link) so clicks flow back to FileMaker. Use UTMs for web conversions and unique coupon codes or tracked phone numbers for offline/phone sales. Prefer webhook delivery of opens/clicks into an integration service or a small middleware script that writes into the FileMaker email_events table; fall back to a scheduled API pull if webhooks aren’t available. Follow ’s advice and run a seeded test group first (internal + known customers) to validate data flow and attribution before full sends.

Deliverability and hygiene: enforce double opt-in where appropriate, maintain suppression lists, remove long-inactive contacts after a re-engagement attempt, and monitor complaint rate and bounce trends (spike investigation triggers). For analysis, report revenue per campaign, revenue per active contact, conversion lag (time from click to sale), and cohort retention so campaign ROI is measured against real sales rather than opens alone.

I will say first go for test campaign with few selected records whom you know personally. If such business record is not available create some kind of friendship with few of your existing customers. Ask them to give feedback and develop on that feedback.

I'm sure that a few years ago we use a company called Mail Manager or something like that.

I remember that the big negative about them was that we were restricted with the number of emails that could be sent each week. Thats something that you will need to watch out for in selecting a mail out company.

Sorry if this isn't much help!
