Hi, when i switched on my emachines 610 the other day, it booted as normal (XP) and took me to the password screen but my keyboard, or mouse, didn't respond. The net result is i cannot access my computer at all as i can't get past this screen. The caps and number lock lights flash once at the start then it goes dead. I tried a different keyboard but it did the same. They are round pin plugs in the back not usb's. Any ideas how i can get round this problem? Thanx in advance.

Have you tried booting to safe mode? a successful boot there would indicate a driver prob. Other than that I'd contact the machine's manuf. as this seems to be a hardware error.
