I am currently using a 150gb hardrive i went and got a 500gb hardrive to give me more space i have plugged it in, but when i go to my computer it just isn't there.

some old motherboard can't recognized big size hard drive. if this problem then u need to update ur bios. go to ur motherboard's web site and download flash bios update.

Do You Try To Change The Jumper Settings Of Your Both Hard Drives? If Yes Then Maybe The Drive Not Compatible To Your Motherboard.
