Hi all,

I have a IBM laptop (T40). The LCD screen works properly when I am using AC power.

When I use battery, the LCD brightness is very low and it looks like the LCD is turn off although the system is running and the battery is 100% full. The same problem occurs when I turn the laptop on from stand by mode.

Is that my LCD is degraded or do I have to change some setting in my laptop?

Thanks a lot.

go into power under the bios settings and poke around
if the screen is dim you may be able to turn it up by holding down the FN key and the brightness up key (on my r30 its Home)
also take a peek at windows power management

if you go to your battery mizer and change the settings, by default to conserve energy a notebook when using battery will reduce functions, so it lowers the brightness, slows a bit, etc. You can increase all of these with the ibm battery software, the less power while on battery, the longer your battery lasts but it is possible to increase.
