i needed to reinstall my operating system (XP), so i used symantec ghost to clone the entire drive (C:) to an external 350Gb drive (F:).

before i cloned it, however, i partitioned the target drive into two parts, 200 F: and 150 G:. the larger partition will contain the copy of the operating system (backup, in case of errors reinstalling on C:). after doing so, the existing files i had on the smaller partition are nowhere to be found...the backup of the operating system is fine.

any idea what happened or how to recover them??
