I have other people who use this comp, and they don't know any better when it comes to dling 3rd party software. My i.e. homepage which was set to google was hijacked by another search engine, it was not coolwebsearch, but I didnt bother to remeber what it was, i just ran adaware(lot of junk from Gain and Gator) and reset the home page to google. Now when I try and launch i.e. it cannot find server. Also I removed i.e. from the program list in zone alarm, and when i try and launch it, ZA doesnt even recognize it as a program trying to access the internet. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi...you say you ran adaware. Also try running Spybot S&D if you haven't already, and let it fix what it finds, if anything. Then update HijackThis to version 1.98.2, and save to a permanent folder, not a temporary one. Rescan and post your fresh log. :)

yes i also use Spybot along with Adaware. Here is the log for the updated version of HijackThis:

Looks like a clean log to me. Can you do a system restore back to a time you could surf? Then run Adaware & spybot.

0

I have system restore disabled, this isnt a huge problem as you can see i can access the web with aol, but i liked to just launch i.e. sometimes because it really saves my resources with 128mb of RAM as opposed to launching aol 9.0. Is it possible ZA has become corrupted? I mean why wont it even acknowledge i.e. as a program trying to access the internet?

0

A lot of firewalls now hold a database of legitimate programs that access the net from the computer. Internet Explorer has most likely been added automatically.
