a few infections...HJT log included.

I have a few problems with my computer at the moment. Spyware, a trojan, and a few other things. One of the file names is "x.exe", there are about 15+ registry keys that are involved, "coolwebsites" or something like that is one of the culprits, etc.. I've deleted everything that i know for a fact is involved, and it comes right back. I can only run in safe mode. When I try to run normally, everything starts up, but before my desktop would usually load, a blue screen comes up and says that windows isnt allowing itself to run due to a threat risk, or something along those lines. It says to reboot in safe mode and fix the problems. I've used Ad-Aware regularly and after this happened I tried to download some of the other programs listed in the "clean up your computer" thread but half of them wont finish installing while in safe mode.

Can you please do the following.

You will have to disable Spybot's Teatimer before we begin, as it will interfere with the fix. To do this can you start Spybot and go to the Mode button and select Advanced. Go to Tools > Resident and uncheck the box next to Tea-Timer. Make sure that the icon in the system tray is no longer there. If it is, just right click on it and select "Exit".
Download ResetTeaTimer.bat.
Double click ResetTeaTimer.bat to remove all entries set by TeaTimer.
Do not forget to re-enable teatimer when we are done :).
If teatimer gives you a warning afterwards that some changes were made, allow this instead of blocking it.

Thanks so far. As of now there are no visual/noticable signs of an infection. However, I can still only boot under safe mode. The blue screen still comes up, where my desktop normally would start. The blue screen reads as follows:

I just tried that and failed. I followed all of the steps, restarted, same blue page came up. upon reentering in safe mode, I tried the first steps again (start, run, msinfo32, components, display) and now half the list in "value" says "not available".

Here is what happened, as I was told; My mom's b/f clicked on a pop up that downloaded the spyware and all of the other stuff. After that, he tried installing a bunch of new updates, which leads us to our current issue.

Could I not simply just delete all of the windows updates from control panel and start over with what is needed, to fix this problem? I mean the computer is still mildly functional, but I have no volume or use of my printer, and my mom thinks her computer "crashed".

Not sure if that will solve the problem. Updates should be uninstalled from add/remove programs. You could also try a system restore back to before the b/f downloaded the problem.

im still having to boot in safe mode. cant find anything to delete in add or remove programs that pertain to windows updates. is there anywhere that stores partially downloaded files (particularly updates)?

also, as of today, on certain websites (using IE) a security message comes up saying java script is turned off, and my security settings have disabled activex controls or something like that. several people use this computer so there is no telling what was done, but it just started today as i said, and everything in internet options seems to be as it has been as far as privacy and secuirty settings.

where within my security would i be able to disable/re-enable java and activex? mcafee wont even open/run due to this. i have to assume it wasnt disabled through that program, which to my knowledge, is the only "security" we have....soooo wtf? what other means of security would affect not only IE, but McAfee as well? do i need to post another up to date htj log?
