My laptop isn't the same anymore. I am currently using a Windows XP MCE and it has a 1 GB RAM. I recently installed Avast and managed to uninstall Symantec thanks to this forum. I have a feeling that Avast could be part of the cause of the slow start up. When I used it to do a full scan it took forever, but did finish eventually. Maybe that is because out of my 100 GB Hard Disk, 3 GB was free and now I have managed to clean out some 10 GB and its better.

Here is a log of HijackThis (after I just restarted my computer right now).

Hello,

Pls do the following:

1. - Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button) to your desktop.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure to checkmark the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
* Post the log back here.

Make sure that you restart the computer.

The log can also be found here:
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
Or at C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt

2. - RU HJT again and post the log.

In your reply, post the logs (in this order):
1. - Malware Bytes Log
2. - Hijackthis Log

After this, run a system defrag :) by following these instructions

Also, download CCleaner and run it as it may help clear some space on your hard drive.

Thanks,

Cohen

Cohen, I did as you asked. I have already been using CCleaner for about 5 months now, so that couldn't clean much. Also, I did a defrag too but still my startup isn't better.

I haven't updated my laptop to SP3 which always shows up everyday when i start my comp. Could that be the reason?

hhhmmm........

Can you pls run hijackthis again and post a log.

Thanks,

Cohen
