i tried adaware, spybot, etc and i cant use internet exploer to surf the web, it brings up a promt to connect b/c im offline but it wont work. meanwhile my aim is workin, and i have a signal on my cable modem. my netscape will work after i get an error for trident.exe invalid operation, and switch over to fire fox. heres my hjt.. ive tried everything that worked in the past but im stumped on this one

I appologize for the delay in responding to this. I don't see anything in your HijackThis log that would indicate a problem; if you're still having trouble, you may have better luck posting in the Windows XP forum (without the HijackThis log).
