Hi, i keep losing my internet connection everynight around 7pm onwards. My Pc can be on all day from 7am till 7pm and it's fine but after that it seems to loose connection sometimes every 2 mins and then could be every 20 mins it varies. Then i have to reconnect and sometimes it says no dial tone other times it will connect first time of asking. I'm using speedtouch 330 with USB connection. Seems very strange that it can be on all day and no problems then in evening it has problems. I have run adaware, norton, ewido, ccleaner and anything else i can think off but it finds nothing of any relevance.

Please any help would be grateful. I'm getting desperate now.
Thanks

Hi Graham,

hard to tell what's the cause for this. I guess you already took into consideration that most home DSL connections are disconnected every 24 hrs and get a new IP address. (Then it could take some time to re-establish a new connection or Windows may stall on this. Does it make a change if you reboot?) Since it happens in the evening, this might be related to an issue like an "overloaded DSL cable" in your street (many people surfing) or impulses on your mains installation from an electric oven / water boiler and so on.

These log entries may need your attention:
C:\WINDOWS\vsnpmi03.exe (Running process)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SNPMI03] C:\WINDOWS\vsnpmi03.exe

Very little information about this is available - http://www.superadblocker.com/V/VSNCT511.EXE-4692.html has categorized this as "unknown" malware process.
One site (http://www.wintotal.de/Spyware/index.php?Filter=V) assigns this file to the Parite.B Virus (http://www.pandasoftware.com/virus_info/encyclopedia/overview.aspx?idvirus=18181), but I'm not sure where they got this information from. All visited virus encyclopedia sites don't mention this filename.

Restart your computer in Safe Mode (Press <F8> after the BIOS screen and select Safe Mode), then start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:
C:\WINDOWS\vsnpmi03.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SNPMI03] C:\WINDOWS\vsnpmi03.exe
Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the "Fix checked" button to finish the repair.
Find this file: C:\WINDOWS\vsnpmi03.exe (make sure Explorer is set to show all hidden and system files) and delete it.

Norton doesn't find everything. You might want to do an online scan at Trendmicro, Panda or other online virus scan sites to check for infections. If the mentioned file is really from "Parite.B", all *.exe and *.scr -files could have been infected.
