I'm running Compaq Deskpro EN, PIII 866Mhz, 512MB.Win 2000 I successfully installed my scanner-Optipro UT12 software from the manufacturer-but the USB does not connect. Says that it is not connected. Also says I need to run configuration program or utility. Also tried USB mouse and worked intermitantly. Few seconds then stop for a few etc. How or what can, needs to be done to get the USB working.

The message is RUN APPROPRIATE UTILITY OR CONFIGURATION PROGRAM. All hardware/drivers/software seem to be working properly according to the computer.
