I am running mac os x tiger on an IBM thinkpad t42 laptop and my builtin network card is an intel pro/1000 MT - I have tried downloading tulip - although I get "can't find the make command" when I try to run sudo make install- so I downloaded an already compiled tulip.kext and inserted it into /system/library/extensions and made a symbolic link that was suggested in another thread, but nothing seems to work. It definately looks cool and i want to try it but i can't get this darn network card to be recognized!! :-|

youre not running tiger on a thinkpad. probably you´re running a hacked early beta of tiger. be informed that networking, and thereby
e-mail etc. is a security matter on tiger, and therefore it is not enough
to place a kext into the system, as it isn´t loaded when not bound into
a framework. kextstat in the terminal informs you about it.
