Several months ago, my 4 year old Inspiron 1100 Dell notebook stopped connecting to the internet. For awhile, I could get a connection but only when I moved the ethernet cable around in the jack. Now when I attach the cable, there is no indication that it is being recognized. If anyone know of any ways of salvaging this component, please let me know.

Thanks

Does it do this with any cable you use? If the problem occurs across multiple cables I would turn the laptop off, remove the battery, and use a small screwdriver to bend the copper wires in the port down to increase connectivity. Be careful!
