I had issues earlier, and finally got the daggum system recovery to start (Sony VAIO, O/S XP). It goes to begin and about 13-15 seconds into it I get this error:

Disk Access:Sense Operation Failed

I can't get it to read the disk. The disk is in the correct tray (I switched it between the two and get the same thing) and the disk is perfectly intact and free of scratches, fingerprints, and dust.

So....here's my question. How do I correct this and/or which caliber bullet is prefered to 'handle' further problems?

I hate my computer. I think it hates me back.
