With normal folders, you can right click them and say "Remove from favorite folders, as per here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA011176721033.aspx

However, Calendar and Contacts don't have that option. How would one remove them?

Thanks,

David

— the Favorite Folders section in the Mail view is really intended for mail folders; Calendar and Contacts are separate navigation modules, so you won't always get the same right‑click "Remove from Favorite Folders" behavior you see on normal mail folders. That difference explains why 's Navigation Pane Options hides the big Calendar/Contacts buttons but doesn't remove whatever is showing up inside the Favorites area. (flylib.com)

A reliable fix when non‑mail items or module icons appear in the Favorite Folders area is to reset the Navigation Pane. Close Outlook (verify no Outlook.exe remains in Task Manager), then run this from Start → Run (or a command prompt): outlook.exe /resetnavpane. That command clears navigation‑pane customizations and rebuilds the Favorites area back to default (Inbox, Sent Items, etc.) without deleting mailbox data. (support.microsoft.com)

If what you see in Favorites is actually a calendar or contacts folder someone shared with you (not the module button), remove it from its own module instead: switch to Calendar (or Contacts), right‑click the calendar/contact entry under My Calendars/My Contacts and choose Remove (for example, "Remove from My Calendars"). That will drop the item from the calendar/contacts list rather than from the mail Favorites. (slipstick.com)

If resetting doesn't fix it, back up and remove the Navigation Pane settings file (the profile XML in %appdata%\Microsoft\Outlook) or try outlook.exe /resetsharedfolders for shared items; both actions force Outlook to rebuild navigation settings. Back up the XML first and be aware these operations clear custom navigation shortcuts and view customizations. (flylib.com)

hi ,very bottom left had corner ,a notes icon and a folder icon ,and a black arrow ,mouse over folder icon it should then say folder list ,now right click on it ,it now should say ,navigation pane options ,click that and you can un-check what you don't want to show in the navigation pane

caperjack - that removes the big calendar button, but it doesn't remove calendar from the "Favorite Folders" list.
