what is the best suitable LAN protocol/technology for a law budget school network connected to a WAN to which the LAN must provide streeming and real time video?
will gigabit ethernet be as good idea? or is Wi-Fi suitable? or perhaps CAT5 or fibre optics?

it is important to consider how many simultaneous users will be streaming video at anytime. with any video application you should implement gigabit switches at the desktop and consider switches with 10 GB uplinks between switches. video is delay sensitive so you will need QOS for video traffic, data compression, and if you can provision a separate WAN circuit such as a metro ethernet or cable. wifi isnt well suited for video traffic.

if you know about star topology then..... i think it's quiet best and suitable for school network with WAN. or if you don't know about the topologies of network then please visit www.wikipedia.org. hope you reply.
