How to connect a wireless Acces point directly to a modem and get internet connection

Greetings to you all,

I have an ethernet cable running from my modem to a desktop computer that I use to connect to the internet. I would like to Use a wireless Access point such that I can be able to use wireless.

Qn1. How should I configure the Access point?

Qn2. What ip address should i give to the laptop?

The following are my IP settings that work with the desktop.

ipaddress: 192.168.11.174
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
default Gateway: 192.168.11.1

DNS servers: 41.190.128.40
41.190.128.41
