Hello.

I was wondering, currently we have a number of 24 port Corega switches, they do the job, but our network seems to be slowing down of late, and not much more has been added.

Would we notice a change in speed if I replaced the switches with a better brand, like Netgear for example.

I know they will still run at 100mb, but I mean the actuall processing the switch has to do?

Cheers in advance.

Tony

It depends, if it is really just a switch utilization issue than yes, it COULD help. If it is spyware/virus infected PC's bombing your network with traffic then it probably won't help.

A good network design will put one switch (hopefully more powerful) at the core of the switched network with high speed lines going to all other switches (one hop away.) If your switches are "daisy chained" in a long row you could be having other issues.
