Well the thing is I have been using the same brand of disks since I have had my laptop. I have always used sony and they have worked fine...up until this point. and now it wont burn to sony or memorex. i really dont wanna go out and buy more blank cd-r's if it isnt gonna work.
Jessykah 0 Light Poster
I have tried Nero, WMP, Yahoo Jukebox, and Itunes. Should I uninstall it and then reinstall it?
Jessykah 0 Light Poster
Ok I have a Toshiba M45 Series laptop. I recently had to reformat my hard drive because it wouldn't boot. So after I did that, about a week later, my fan stopped working and I think I'm gonna have to send it to a Toshiba repair place to get it fixed. NOW..my DVD burner wont burn CD's. It is supposed to burn both and now it will only burn DVDs not CDs. Ive tried 2 different brand of disks, Sony, and Memorex. When I burn DVDs Im using Memorex but when I use the same brand for CDs it wont burn. Ive tried slowing down the writing speed all the way down to 2x and it still wont work. I have a Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-831S. I'm hoping this doesnt need to be replaced too! Although I am under warrenty...! Anyone have any help!?
Jessykah 0 Light Poster
You need to find out if the fan is working first, remove the cooler so you can hear if the fan is running. If the fan is running your heating problem could be due to dust and pet fur. Have you tried blowing it out with some canned air?
When you start you computer enter the BIOS and see what the temperatures are.
Yeah I have tried blowing it out with an air can. And how do you enter the BIOS when it starts?

Ok, I have a toshiba laptop M45 series and it just started yesterday. It just randomly shuts off and I think its overheating. I don't know if my fan is working or not because it stays on when I put it on one of those cooling things. My question is where and how would I go about replacing the fan?? If this is in the wrong section sorry!
Jessykah 0 Light Poster
Ok, I'm pretty sure this is possible I just don't know how to do it. Does anyone know how to track websites through a router? Thanks!
I don't know if I posted this in the right place, if I didn't I apologize.

Jessykah 0 Light Poster
Ok guys I need some help. Ok, I use a brand Sony CD-R's to record all my music and stuff. Well my friend wanted me to burn some CDs for her and she gave me the Maxell kind and I keep getting this error.
http://img107.imageshack.us/my.php?image=060720062146497kx.jpg
Ive tried lowering the speed and it still doesnt help. So far everytime I burn with Sony CDs theyre fine but Maxell and sometimes TDK CD's always give me that error. Any one got any ideas on how to help me?
Thanks!
Jessykah 0 Light Poster

This is the 2nd time its happened. So does anyone have any suggestions please?! Thanks tons!
Jessykah 0 Light Poster
Alright I need your guys' help once again. On my laptop i have a slot to insert memory cards from digital cameras. Before when I would insert my memory card the camera/scanner wizard would launch so i could transfer my pictures, but now it doesnt launch. Is there anyway i can set it to launch. My memory card when i insert it is currently my E:
If anyone has any idea and could possibly help it would be much appreciated!
Jessykah 0 Light Poster
hey thanks for helping me out but i figured it out on my own before you replied. i have a toshiba laptop and my cd/dvd rom is kinda confusing. you have to turn off one or the other before you burn with one option. so i had to turn of dvd burning to burn a "CD". kinda confusing but i figured it out on my own. thanks for your help though! :)
Jessykah 0 Light Poster
Ok i need some help and im going to be as descriptive as possible. When I put in a blank CD-R it doesnt do the autoplay like asking me what i want to do with it. When I go to my computer and click on the D drive it says its not accessable. When I go to my pictures or a music folder it usually asks you what you want to do under picture tasks like copy images to CD..i dont have any of those options in any of my folders. I dont know what happened. Its not the CDs cuz Ive burned with them before both music and data cds!
help please!!

Hi Jessykah,
Lisa didn't say anything wrong, she was just trying to help; after all, we're all here to either help or be helped -- in many cases both :)
Try this to stop the Messenger service:
Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel. Double-click on Administrative Tools, and then Services. Scroll down to Messenger and right-click on it. Select Properties, and then under Service status:, click the Stop button. Now click on the drop-down arrow to the far right of Startup type: and select Disabled. Click OK and then close the Services and Administrative Tools windows. Windows Messenger shouldn't bother you anymore.
If this doesn't work, let us know.
I think that worked =) thanks. Ill know for sure when I restart and when I do Ill let you know.

Lisa: Im really not trying to be rude but was it really needed for your comment? Im not trying to start anything and Kintak, thanks ok. When I read it i thought the edit was to my post not yours. Anyways thanks everyone for your help though.

how did what sound rude i didnt say anything that was anywhere near offensive. i posted a thumbnail to help a little better. i dont know how your taking things but i sure didnt say anything to make it sound rude or offensive and yes i did everything the guide said. and just to let you know im not computer illiterate i know a great deal so i know whats what. (sorry if that sounded rude) but i am pretty smart with computers.

thanks a lot for your help! my issue with windows messenger i dont think its gonna stop running. i have a toshiba laptop and i took it out of the startup and i went into the options in windows messenger and unchecked all those options too. i was told that it might be built into the kernal so it can run for remote assitance if its ever needed.

Ok I have a few issues. Windows messenger runs everytime i turn on my computer. Ive taken it out of the startup and ive deleted it out of the prefetch too. Ive even gone so far to get rid of the startup option and run in background option in the actual program. Any ideas on how to help me??
My other problem is when I got my laptop windows xp is registered to some other womans name. So it means everything was under her name when I first got my laptop. When I few system info it still shows her name. I was told you can change it in the registry but I would like to know how.
HELP guys!! please and thank you!!
