Well, I have no idea.

...But if I was Microsoft, I'd sure as hell make people pay for it! Just look at the OBSCENE ammount of people who use it! Oh they'll pay for it!

On the color change, I like it the way it is. On a private note, the best version was 6.2. Who the hell needs any of the shit with the newer version. Not I! "Nudge" ...??!

Got me beat how you could describe Maddox as 'better writing'.

Better than what?

Well it was certainly better than my piece(no offence to religeous ones).
You don't like him?

Oh. Not your kind of humor I guess.

No Windows CD with one of those systems.

Those systems don't come with the actual OS CD's?

In anycase, that would be how you'd do it normally right?

Only one way to do that: Activate Windows.

Oh, I'm sure you can get an activation key somewhere on the ultra-net, courtesy of crack sites and the like. ...But that's just not legal.

My activation was a PAIN IN THE ASS because the key that was on the activation screen was different from the one on my box (yes, oddly enough, it DID take me that long to notice). Fun times.

I hope that helps you out. I remember being pissed off all through the AM when I first fiddled with the wonders of formatting, installing an OS and partitions.

Also, if I'm wrong at all, could someone point it out. Don't want to be speading lies on the internet(someone might loose a job  ).

New hard drive, awsome.
If your bios is on default settings this should be no problem.

Obviously, you have access to the internet from somewhere, so just download this http://spock.uccs.edu/pub/bootdisks/bootme.exe (Courtesy of www.bootdisks.com) and run the bootme.exe. You will need a floppy disk, the program will format it and copy the needed boot files.

Take it home, pop it in the floppy drive, and power up.
You will get a menu, pick the "...Load with CD-ROM support" Option. After it loads, you have to create a partition, so...

On the a: drive type "fdisk" so it looks like so: A:\fsidk
It will ask you if you want to support large disk sizes, up to you, read the warning!
After that, on the menu choose "Create Primary Dos Partition", Follow along the steps. Read everything! Because it will tell you that you have to format the drive after you partition it(something I missed).

Reboot, choose with CD support, wait till you get the "a:\" prompt
Type "format c:" ( A:\format c: ). It will ask you if you're dammn sure, then wait untill it's done. (When entering volume label, if you leave it blank it will be "C:" ...But it tells you that ;)

Reboot. Pick CD support AGAIN, wait till you get prompted. Now it gets fun(er)?). Your CD-ROM drive will be (unless otherwise told) E:
So switch to E: and type "setup" (E:\setup)

I never knew you even needed drivers for A: drives! Is it a laptop thing because I have never needed to install such a thing on any of my PC's, ever.

Because my first thought was a bootdisk.

I just saw the screenshots of Vista. It made up for all the times I swore at my computer for being so **** ugly! I hate everything that is visible on the XP desktop, I had to change it so the "Classic" theme and Start Menu to keep me from having seisures.

Just got the Vista XP logon skin.

The tanks and heads are smart chipped and even if they are half full or the heads are functioning fine they shut down the printer until THE RANSOM is paid to HP...

Not every company does it...
I have a low end canon $125 (Individual ink tanks) no spyware and no smart chips. It does shut down if the ink blotter is full, but Canon gives you the reset code. If it overflows it is my own fault... Many people reset it 2 or 3 times before they really need to replace it (a $6 part available online...)

What's all this you speak of?!

I don't know anything about said printers(quite frankly I never cared), I just have a $99 Cannon portable to print text an things in B&W.

What's all this about smart chips and spyware?

There's always a water-cooled rig option.

Kind of crazy if you ask me.
There's also some company that makes massive heatsinks for videocards that would otherwise use a fan.

Check out www.zalman.co.kr

Finally, if you're that keen on cutting out the noise at the cost of reduced performance, you can slow down your hard drive, and optical drive(s). You might need some acompanying software.

As this section would imply; I don't know much. ...About using Linux!

I have installed(dual boot) Suse 9.2 with a KDE enviroment and my diplay is all distorted, my videocard wasn't listed in the hardware section of installation. I have downloaded a Linux driver from ATI but I have no idea how to run it! If I am to fiddle with this OS, I'd like to see what I'm doing.

Thanks.
