I think it's a video problem. I am not familiar with your laptop but some video boards in different laptops pop up from their connector on the system board. Try pushing it back in place. cmiiw.SNIP

put xp on the first primary partition on the first drive if possible. It will stop it complaining. Vista is less picky SNIP

Otherwise I would open the case and check the RAM etc to see if it is dirty. I had a similar issue recently. Problem was solved by pulling the RAM and thoroughly cleaning the contacts and then putting it back in. thank SNIP

I had experienced the incident as you experience. my komputer is virusses invected.virus infected my computer i cleaning first.and then I do a security update from microsoft and can connect to the stable. corec me if i am wrong because i am newbie best regard SNIP
