Have you tried restoring your registry to before you chanegd anything and see what happens then??

To restore:

1) Bootup and press F8 until you see a menu
2) Select option 5 (Command Prompt) and when your @ the prompt,type this: scanreg/restore
3) Restore an entry from before you installed the modem...

If this works,then there is a conflict of some kind with your modem.....

After you do this,you may have to re-install your new modem,but it will tell you if it is indeed the issue.....

1) Isnt there a way to "Unlock the toolbar" and place the address bar @ the bottom?? (I've always wondered that)

2) I dont think there is a way of disabling the tabs.......(Everything is contained within that program,it isnt seperate anymore as with IE6 (Opens a new instance per tab))

A 25-year-old Fresno man, distraught over work problems, shot two officers and holed up in his northwest Fresno town house, where he fatally shot himself late Thursday morning during a seven-hour police standoff.

Police found James George Lunsford dead about 11:15 a.m. in an upstairs bathroom closet inside his condo at San Jose Villas, near Shaw and Brawley avenues. He had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and a handgun was found nearby, Fresno police Chief Jerry Dyer said Thursday afternoon.

Police described Lunsford as a suicidal man with a history of drug and alcohol abuse who lured officers to his town house with an early-morning 911 call for help, and opened fire from his second-floor balcony once they reached his front door.

"This was an absolute ambush against two Fresno police officers," Dyer said.

Bullets pierced the walls of neighbors who hid in closets and back rooms as Lunsford fired dozens of shots from his town house. In a series of bizarre phone calls to police, he spoke to a dispatcher as he reloaded his weapon and continued popping off rounds, ignoring pleas to stop firing. Lunsford also ranted about a suicidal boyfriend who apparently doesn't exist, and later ignited a fire that set off sprinklers, flooding his home with several feet of water.

Both officers are expected to survive.

I used SFC to restore the deleted files for my sound card...

Goto RUN and type "sfc" and restore all sound card files that come up as deleted....

Have you tried to do a SYSTEM RESTORE to 1 day before your friend messed it up?? (This will remove any startup entries the virus put there)

Then run a FULL VIRUS SCAN IMMEDIATLY!! (Be4 the entries are put back)

The Fifth Internet Explorer Security Zone.

For those of you that don’t know, Internet Explorer places restrictions on Web content by which security zone a site happens to be in. It classifies these sites into zones, which are preset security profiles in Internet Explorer. The security zones which we have discussed before in earlier articles, are located in Internet Explorer under Tools, Options, Security tab. The four default zones have always been: Internet, Local Intranet, Trusted Sites and Restricted Sites.

With Web browsers becoming increasingly popular as the common interface for many applications, including those that may run locally, professionals began wondering about the security holes this could potentially create. The security hole facts that the default security policy runs for content from local machine zones is far less restrictive than let’s say, a Web site that falls into the Internet Security Zone. Their worries were substantiated when hackers began to take advantage of the weak security settings placed on the local machine and began writing code that utilized this zone.

There is however, another security zone that was introduced with Service Pack 2 (SP2) to help secure systems from this security oversight. SP2 included a fifth hidden security zone that improved the default security for the local zone. 1 thing i noticed while using FIREFOX thru this linux client was it OPENED PAGES BE4 THINKING while most browsers THINK BE4 OPENING..... YES,pages opened slightly faster (I was surprised),but some sites didnt render properly,etc.......

I typed about:config but i couldnt remember which ones to change.......

I looked for IE but i couldnt find it :D
