though, i am in red eye of all administartors , mod of daniweb team, but seriosuly i am getting too much help from daniweb. all mates asks me who tells me all the doubts?. ,My C concepts are improving day by day, all are astonished which book i am reading, but i never say anyone about my awesome and fabulous source is. ;) all people are great here but problem is at the point when i break the rules and get infraction points(though i will improve on this). my RAM get crashed , deceptikon helped me out in one hour only which results that my PC working superb now, i broke rules happygeek taught me professionalism, in short all are awesome and very awesome people. in return of this, i can't do anything for this. thanks alot guys. keep it up! got highest marks in C aptitude test this semester, cracked TI, deolitte, amazon, microsoft C aptitude test. in the last 2 months, how greatly people has helped on daniweb with my stupid doubts without any ego and anger. ;) thank you dani for all this to the entire world ;)

this is a code snippet. p is a pointer and when it is used as *(p+3) means 4th character. but my question how can a char pointer can be used as pointer to first byte of any object ? can we use this example to explain this ? a little bit confused, can anyone clearify it. thanks in advance.

@deceptikon i have called hp service centre and they said you can put only 1 GB ram in one slot and they saying if you put above 1 GB then system will use only 1 GB , rest is wasted. but i am thiking he is wrong. please correct him or me. thanks

actually I am learning C from past 1 year now and have learnt alot in C. I have read many many books and have solved alot problems in C. now, i am thinking so as to do some kind of project in C/C++. can anyone suggest me some kind of start-up or say beginner project which i can do at this stage ? i just want a project initially, and then will grow as i will learn. I am damn inspried by people who have great knowledge in this world. i have googled alot for this, but some are damn easy and some are very tuff like language translator. suggest some projects which i can start with. thanks. any response will be appreciated ;)

what do you think ? let have an example: i want to ask a doubt and accordin to you :

1. post should be at right place
2. post should not be spammed
3. post should not be abusive or rude to anybody
4. don't derail anybody's post

So, i should first re-check my each and every post with these crumb of rules again and again ? so asking one doubt keep me checking these things ? okay! well said rules for doubt , if i am spending even 30 minutes to check all the rules, then my that doubt costs me around 3 $. too costly!!

okay sir! it's all my fault. I have adopted a full course professionalism just for this daniweb.com. not talked rude with anybody, not broke any rules, not done any thing wrong which i have said. i am not so old so as to get every rule keeping in mind and then only post my posts. if by chance, out of 50 thread, by mistake anybody has posted 1 thread out of place, then you should simply re-place it, rather than giving refraction points again and again. simply keep it in your mind, all people on daniweb are not professionals which you expect from everybody(rules,rules,rules and only rules). some are just 18 like me, some are 15 even(i know many) and some are 65 and some are 45-60. all fingers are not equal in your hands. try to think what i am expecting from you. at the end, you are everything on daniweb. you can do anything on daniweb.

let's now discuss the ways that can give you sweet sweet and sugar plum like infraction points ? ;) lol

@gerg have you heard of overcloaking ? when you put ram above a capacity of system, then it is bad for processor, may be it is working but i think you will have problem in future with your processor performance. isn't it ? correct me if i am wrong

you have to allocate memory for a int pointer, not integer. try this. ;)

@deceptikon I have just read OS sunject in my last semester. I have read that RAM takes the processes and processor executed them while having them in RAM. So isn't RAM is responsible for increasing the number of processes at a time rather than increaing the speed as your said ?

yesterday, my RAM crashed. that was of 1 GB and now i wana purchase new one. I am thinking to buy 2 GB RAM.

specifications for PC :

model- HP pavellion model
age: 4+ years
RAM: 1 GB(initially)
Processor: intel core 2DUO
Hard disk: around 600 GB
operating systems: Window 7 ultimate + Ubuntu (dual boot PC)

So, tell me now that if i use 2 GB RAM instaed of 1 GB , then will my PC speed get effected ? With speed, I mean prcoessing speed or say, overall speed of PC (processing or whatever). My main question is that is it worthful to pay for 2 GB for this type of configeration ?

P.s i was not happy with my PC when i was using 1 GB ram. So please respond as i need to buy one ASAP. ;) thanks

when i have used extern int i; now it will refer i which is outside or extern to the file . right ? then in the next line, i am writing int i=10; then again there is another i for the compiler. So now which i will be used ? thanks.

so @deceptikon when i am writing extern int i; and then using x in my program . So according to you, it it will not work because it is not defined ? But my question is that why will it not work as x is defined else where so it will present in trslation unit after linking from different file.

secondly, isn't this an error as i am saying to compiler that x is defined else where and again i am defining another x, so isn't it a re defintion of x error ? i don't know why am i confused so much in this thing as i know much about these already. thanks
