hey guys, I was thinking about majoring in Computer programing, I was hoping somone could just take a couple minutes and quickly answer a few very basic (amatuer)questions I had, it would be greatly appreciated- you all defintely seem to know what your talking about...

Do I have to buy a "program/software" that makes programs? If so what are some of the basic ones/ or well known ones? Im guessing they are pretty expensive?

I'm looking more for making programs that put out all possible cominations (if thats a rather simple type or more complicated im not sure...Like all combinations of 1-4 etc...

I know these are probrably very "uneducated" questions and you all probly get them all the time, but if someone could just quickly give their imput that be great.

Thanks

There are many free programs out there called an IDE(integrated development environment) and also some IDE's which require you to buy them. Some of the most known and free IDE's are: Netbeans, Eclipse - These programs support multiple languages which is very useful. Another program is Microsofts Visual Studio, this you must pay for, but can also get a trial version to test it out. There may also be a students version I can't really remember.

I don't quite understand what you are saying here.

Everybody begins 'uneducated', don't worry about it.

You don't need to buy any program software or what so ever. you can just surf the net. Being a CS is as simple as others too. You just have enjoy and learn some good thing only a CS know..

Good Luck !
