Hello,
Does anyone know if there is a way to keep a desktop icon after a new version of software is installed?
I'm using VS .net 2008 and after publishing a new version of software, the program updates the first time it is opened. However, after the install of the new version, any desktop shortcuts that were there before, disappear. The program is available in the start menu, but I'd like to keep that icon.

Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Hi,

Did you added that desktop icon again to the newer version setup of your application.
If not I think you should try that.

Where can I add this in the setup? Previously, users were right-clicking in the start menu and selecting "Send To Desktop (Create Shortcut)".

I have found this button!

In the Project Properties, select Publish tab, Options..., Manifests, Create Desktop Shortcut.

Thank you!
