I asked somewhat recently if anyone who is active on Stack Overflow could give me a bit of a status update as to what's going on over there in terms of whether they are able to stay competitive in the world of AI. Someone responded that there's an influx of questions being asked where people copy/paste AI-generated code and ask for help getting it working.

I feel like Stack Overflow is being hit even harder than DaniWeb with AI because at least DaniWeb offers community banter and discussion. Stack Overflow's entire model is strictly broad question + best answers which is literally the easiest to translate into Google AI overviews.

What do you think the next 5 or even 10 years of online programming communities is going to look like?

It seems like they're till getting a lot of activity, not all AI pastes. I really dislike their UI.

I think the layout is horrible. I don't like font size and spacing on the left side menu. On the right side, ads are interspersed with relevant sections. Ads between the title and text of the post? Why is the "Add a comment" way below links for "Share" and "Follow?" Why is "Related questions" above where you type an answer to the post? There's way too many font sizes and colors for my liking. Black text, gray text, blue text, bold text, italic text. There's at least 6 different sizes of text. Makes me truly appreciate your use of a consistent font.

I just think it's a cluttered mess. I really try to avoid using the site. In cases where I use it, I rarely dig through the entire posts and comments.

But hey, their header is nice. :p
