I recently built a crypto currency miner and I'm using Linux Mint as my OS for the miner. I manually turn on the miner by navigating to ~/Desktop/claymore and running ./start_only_eth.bash and my miner starts mining. So i palced this line `./home/ethereum/Desktop/claymore/start_only_eth.bash` in the /etc/init.d/rc.local file but I don't think it's running. When I type `ps or ps -aux | grep /home` neither ps command shows that my miner is running. What am I doing wrong with my auto startup stript? Also, how can I setup my miner so that the computer will always be on? Meaning, if the power …

Hello everyone at daniweb, I've had a bit of a problem with my computer recently but managed to get it up and running earlier today. Problem is, when I had it running, a message appeared telling me it was installing my Nvidia 8800GT card. Now, when this happened I figured there had to be something wrong, since I've had the computer for a couple of years and obviously it had already been installed when I got it. But naturally, I went along with this as it seemed to be fairly important, but when it had installed it told me I …

When I install Server 2008 on vmware everything works fine and when I start everything loads fine too. When I have to restart and just restart it happens. It loads and stops at the boot screen and I dont know why. I read it could be because I'm using a SSD and should use a HDD so I did that and still same thing. -_- Here is a pic of what it look like when it stops (this is not from my computer but took it off google): http://boerlowie.files.wordpress.com/2011/12/image_thumb190.png?w=465&h=246 When it stops I try opening task manager to stop it …

Recently I had a new motherboard installed to replace my old one that overheated. The new motherboard is a MSI H55M-E23 that has an Intel core i5 650 chipset installed. After getting all the drivers to work, I then installed my old XFX Geforce 9500 gt (512mb gddr3) in the pci-e x16 slot. When I went to turn my pc back on it wouldn't boot. I then removed the graphics card from it's slot and it booted up just fine. The same thing happened with my DIAMOND XtremeSound 5.1/16 bit Sound Card when I put it in the PCI slot. …

Hey Guys! So... I left my PC back home when i went off to college and now that I'm back for summer, it seems that it has missed me because it doesn't work anymore. **First Problem:** When I tried to switch it on, it would start to boot (I'd see the fans try to spring to life) and then it would immediately switch itself off. **What I Tried:** 1. Removed peripherals and reseated all the hardware (RAM sticks, video card, CPU, etc.) -- No luck 2. Reset BIOS to eliminate overclocks. (removed battery) -- No luck 3. Took the motherboard, …

Alright, my Thinkpad T60 decided to stop booting. I've tried all the obvious already. Anyway, when I start it up, it shuts down in 3 seconds. All the lights act normal, but no display. To get it to boot again, I need to remove the A/C and the battery. When I plug in the external VGA, it boots like normal. If I hit FN+F7 (LCD/External toggle), it powers off. What could the cause be? I was thinking a shorted out ribbon, are blown fuse or a faulty LCD, but it may be something else. Thanks in advance.

Hello guys. I decided to update my Bios but it turned out that wasn't a good idea. Everything went well until the program itself restarted the Computer, then windows refused to boot :( I tried booting in safe mode but nothing. Right now am using Ubuntu 11.04 to access my Windows files because I was Dual-Booting (thank heaven) But I want my Windows back, and I wouldn't want to clean install again, I have way too much stuff and it would take me months to be back to where I was if I clean-installed it. Am using an Acer Extensa …

My computer wouldn't boot up from XP SP3 after I tried to reboot. I used UBCD to go into the Recovery Console. I deleted boot.ini, confirmed the file was gone by "type boot.ini", and fixed the boot sector by "bootcfg /reload" and "fixboot". My computer booted up. However, my new boot.ini isn't a completely new boot.ini. Instead, it is simply the old boot.ini with a new line with the newly added boot parameters. I don't have a boot.bak. How was the old boot.ini recovered? Could this be malware activity? Thanks.

Hello, I recently made operable a computer based off of the Intel STL2 server motherboard, however when I try to start the computer and boot from the Windows XP CD, I get the following errors: PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable PXE-MOF: Exiting PXE ROM. Operating System not found Upon almost any keystroke the computer attempts, but does not succeed, to find an OS to boot from. I am using a Pioneer DRV-112 DVD drive, which is recognized, but not considered for booting when the XP CD is in it. I have been trying for days to get the system …

Two headlines grabbed my attention today. The first proclaiming that Linux sucks while the second announced it was possible to boot into a full Linux OS in less than a single solitary second. Paul Rako reports that one company, an embedded-Linux specialist called MontaVista Software, has gone step further than developing a proper Real-Time Linux implementation by developing a Real-Fast Linux implementation which boots in a second. Actually, let's be accurate here, it boots in *less* than a second! Actually, let's be even more accurate here, according to this report MontaVista has not only managed to boot its Real-Time Linux …

Hey, I'm having a problem with my Toshiba Equium a200-1v0 laptop. I've had problems with it ever since I bought it new, but didn't take it back to the shop, about 2 months ago it started having problems booting, I've worked out when I have the battery in and nothing else, it will boot fine, if I have both battery and mains, or just mains, the computer needs to get "hot" before it will work, as in I need to leave it on for a few hours before the LCD will turn on. Now a few days ago I started …
