Hi, Whenever I boot up my Presario it does things in this order: Starts making the fan noise Displays the red Compaq logo The Compaq logo gets weirdly distorted It reboots and does it all over again! I can't get into the BIOS or any other preferences, and I can't get to the Control Panel either. When I try to put in a recovery cd, it spits it back out and goes nuts again. Sometimes, if I leave it alone for a while (about 45 minutes- 3 hours) it lasts longer when booting and can actually get to Windows XP. …

Hello, I have a compaq presario CQ61 laptop.. Something strange has started to happen and I am really not to sure on what to do. Each time I hit the letter "y" it will type "dhbty" and when I hit "Enter" it will type "c" This is happening with other keys as well, making the keyboard pretty much useless... I thought for awhile that it was software related, or some kind of spyware. I have since done a complete format of the harddrive and re-installation, and it is still happening. When I plug an external Compaq Presario Keyboard into the …

I just recently bought a Compaq presario for repair off ebay. I just got it today and began looking at it for problems. I took the power button cover off and found there's no button board. I also found there was a soda spill on the keyboard. So I bought a new keyboard and the Board. Now. when I plug in this laptop no lights turn on at all. Its dead it has 500mbs of ram and no hard drive which I can get easily. Anyway how should I diagnose a dead battery/ DC plug or a bad motherboard? Which …

I bought a lot of RAM, 20 sticks, for some desktops that I'm rebuilding. Rebuilding as on upgrading, as most or all work. I put in 2 1Gb sticks (Samsung k4h510438b-TCB3) into some d51s desktops. The max should be 2 1gb's at or around 333mhz but the computer would not boot. It turns on and the lights all flash like normal but will not even show the boot screen. So I put in the old RAM after fildleing around with the 1gb sticks like changes out which dimm sockets and it booted up. These were just 2 256mb sticks (hyb25d256800bt-6). …

hello there, Daniweb community. I'm new to the site and know next to nothing about computers. I have got a problem. I suspect it's common, but regardless, I can't seem to find anyone else with the problem. What's been happening is my laptop (Compaq Presario F767NR) seems to turn off when I "open" the laptop. By that I mean when I flip the screen portion up so that both the keyboard and the monitor are exposed. I can only open it so much (less than a 90 degree angle) before the screen goes black (blank) and if I open even …

Alright a year or so ago my girlfriends got mad at this laptop and squeezed the screen till it broke. then out of rage she punched the screen. Her parents gave me this laptop and said I could have it if I can fix it so I've been working on it. I installed a new screen inside it and it's the proper model for this particular laptop. The screen remains off now even after powering up and the dvd drive refuses to open. I've tried all the tricks from the hard reset to checking cables. Everything seems to be intact …

If you happen to be in the market for an all-in-one Windows PC, the Compaq 6000 Pro from Hewlett Packard is worth of serious consideration. This well-equipped, dual-core workstation performed well in benchmarks and our hands-on tests, and its integrated graphics circuitry drove a highly demanding single-shooter game smoothly, pegging the dial at a respectable 100 frames per second. I read a post similar to my issue, but my situation's a bit different. See, my computer starts and then stops. I press the power button, the fan starts, the lights flicker and then nothing. I literally have to press the power button 15 to 25 times to finally get it going. When I try to shut it down, it starts the process, but when it gets to the blue screen reading "shutting down", it stays that way unless I hold down the power button to turn it off. I've resorted to leaving my computer on just so I won't …

I have a Presario 700 which went dead screen on us. The LED's come on and I can hear the fan and harddrive running. I connected an external monitor and still nothing. I did the full power down with no battery or AC and held the power button 15 seconds, zip. I unseated the memory and powered down again, nada. I disassembled the machine and reseated the processor, still nothing. Any help? What next, a new Motherboard? It was replaced once already for unrelated problems. VERY frustrating.

When I turn on my V3000 the power and indicator LED's light up but nothing appears on the LCD. I Thought it may have been the integrated Video Card so i bought a new motherboard and installed it, but the issue still remains, even when i hook up an external monitor it wont work. So I tried some new ram, and nothing has changed. This one is really a stumper. I have completely Disassembled the machine and reassembled it making sure to check all of the connections and make sure they are all nice and snug. Any Ideas?

My Compaq monitor attached to a Gateway tower receives a signal on bootup, light stays green but the screen stays black. Light on the tower is green. I have 3 external hard drives, copier/printer and an 8 connection USB hub attached to the PC. I've noticed that if I unplug the hub most times the monitor will come on. The hub and each of the external HD's have their own power supply. Could it still be that the hub is taking to much power? Does that even make sense? Thank you for any suggestions!

I tried swapping a formerly working VA-10 Abit to an Emachine T5026 case, when that mobo proved dead except for the light near the PSU connect. Now, when the Abit was in that eMachine case, I used a Compaq S3000Z switch to test, aligning the power terminals, and the case itself. Thing I dislike is Emachine's spongy power button, this one seems cursed. After trying all that, only the board light comes on, same as the 5026 board. (Intel 775) The VA-10 is a lower spec model AGP8 Socket A board, I swapped a former eMachine CPU into the Abit …

a compaq presario cq60 was given to me a couple months ago; nothing fancy. its had some hiccups, but welcome to vista, right? what seems to be a recurring theme with it, however, is freezing when i close a program. generally the only one i end via process is firefox when it starts running 300 or more mb ram. for some reason, it causes the whole system to lock up for several minutes. music/video hangs and loops whatever syllable it last played. even the mouse freezes. sometimes i get tired of waiting and do a hard reboot. this happens with …
