For one thing, you have to warp the image to the 3D shape the model is going to be in. For example, a sphere's texture image needs to have a fisheye lens filter applyed to it so the image can be mapped properly. As you can imagine, warping a tree is much harder than a sphere. Try installing RVM (https://rvm.io) on your shared host account. That will set up your environment properly, to store everything in your home directory.
