Notifications next to watched articles?

Notifications next to watched articles would be useful, or maybe there could be an option to watch an article with notifications or just watch article, I think it would be useful.

When you get a message you get (1) Next to it, I mean those kind of notifications?

I think he is referring to an in-site notification system, as google-plus or fb: when a watched article is updated the subscribed users get an event notification, so they can click on the icon, select the thread and jump to the discussion.
