What's with the current trend in weirdly patterned avatars? Seems like a lot of members now have them. Is this DW, Gravatar or what?

Sorry for the delay. Yeah, we always used Gravatar as a backup (at least for the past long while) but we switched from using the "mystery man" grey cartoony guy as the last-resort backup (which was the same for everyone) to the email-hash based Gravatars.
