Is there any option in Gmail that we can change our primary Email address?

Short answer: you generally cannot rename an existing @gmail.com address — the Gmail username you created is permanent. If you need a different address you must either add a non‑Gmail alternate email / alias for sign‑in or create a new Gmail account and move mail/contacts. See Google’s explanation of which addresses can be changed. ().

What likely explains the behaviour your friend saw is not a “rename” of the core Gmail login but one of these: a secondary “send as” alias, automatic forwarding or a filter, delegated access, a changed display name, or an account compromise that altered settings. Check the account’s Aliases/Send‑as, Forwarding & POP/IMAP, Filters, and Mail delegation — each can make mail appear to come from another address. If you can’t sign in or see unfamiliar changes, follow Google’s hacked‑account checklist. (; ; ).

Practical next steps (in order): sign in to the Google Account and run the Security Checkup; immediately change the password; remove unknown “Send mail as” aliases and delete unknown forwarding addresses or filters; remove any mail delegation and revoke suspicious third‑party app access; sign out other devices and enable 2‑Step Verification. If the goal is simply a new address, create a new Gmail account and import mail/contacts or add alternate addresses into the account. (See Google’s recovery and import documentation.) (; ).

Notes tied to thread: was right to look in Gmail settings for aliases; — to remove an added send‑as address use the “Delete” option next to that address in Gmail’s Accounts/Send mail as area. If signs point to compromise, treat security steps as urgent rather than cosmetic fixes.

:( No. once created you must keep it or delete it and use another id, maybe something similar.
