— 4,400 members is a real audience. As advised, start with the applicable Google product terms, and note 's point about platform limits. If the objective is to pick advertisers and keep the revenue, the usual path is to host the community or its commercial touchpoints on a property you control, or to monetize activity that lives off the Group (newsletter, job board, paid tiers).

  • Pick a home you control (self-host WordPress + forum or a hosted forum like Discourse).
  • Put up a clear landing page explaining benefits and an opt‑in form; do not harvest or import member emails without consent.
  • Announce the change inside the Group with an invitation to join the new site/newsletter; use that opt‑in list for sponsors or ad placements.
  • Start small: sell newsletter sponsorships, a sponsor slot on a resources page, affiliate links, a paid members area or job board, or run site ads once traffic justifies them.

Cautions: follow anti‑spam and data rules (see the FTC CAN‑SPAM guidance () and GDPR resources (https://gdpr.eu/)). Ad networks and display ads require policy compliance — review AdSense program policies () and Google Terms (https://policies.google.com/terms) before placing network ads. Run a short pilot, measure engagement, and use those metrics when pricing sponsors.

I recommend you to refer to Google's policy about ads. Since you are using Google Group and their space, you may not be able to benefit from profit sharing but do check their TOS.

Google group does not allow you to put advertisements on it.
