Is a Guest blogging only a way of SEO content marketing method?

Short answer: no — guest blogging is not only an SEO tactic. The blanket "guest blogging is dead" line grew from Google warnings about large-scale, low-quality guest-post networks and link schemes, but that warning targeted guest blogging done purely for manipulating rankings rather than genuine editorial contributions. (searchenginejournal.com)

When done with an audience-first mindset, guest posts still deliver real value beyond links: targeted referral traffic, brand exposure, new subscribers, and credibility that contributes to E-E-A-T (experience, expertise, authoritativeness, trustworthiness). Treat placements as content distribution and relationship building rather than a link faucet. (blog.hubspot.com)

Practical checklist to apply immediately:

  • Choose hosts with a real, engaged audience and editorial standards.
  • Write original, helpful pieces tailored to the host's readers (use examples, data, or case studies).
  • Limit self-links; place only contextual links that genuinely help readers and avoid exact-match anchor text.
  • If a placement is paid or promotional, insist on disclosure and rel="sponsored" (or rel="nofollow") per webmaster guidance.
  • Measure success by referral traffic, time on page, signups and leads — not raw backlink counts.

Follow these guardrails and avoid mass-submitting thin articles; Google explicitly flags large-scale article-for-link patterns as link-scheme behavior. (developers.google.com)

Responding to posts above: and capture the historic panic, and is right that guest blogging is only one of several content channels (forums, social, video, PR). Use guest posts selectively as part of a diversified content/PR mix and prioritize editorial value and measurable audience outcomes. (thebacklinkcompany.com)

Dead, not dead, but free.

NO not only blog posting is for content marketing; Forum Posting, Social Media Marketing and Brand Marketing is also used for content Marketing.

"This just in"

I wanted to update my reply as some discussions gave me a new look into blogs. Not that it gave any new life to old school (what?) blogs but what folk are following it seems or YouTube blogs. Here's one that is a good example that would not work as a classic blog.

Hello it's everyone's favorite copyright attorney, Leonard French.

The weight of the subject matter Mr. French covers would sink a blog, but this works.
