Hi — sorry you are dealing with persistent spam. and are right that watching the site helps, but the real win is to stop manual firefighting by adding a few low-friction, automatic barriers so bots fail fast and real members are unaffected.

Immediate, high-impact actions (do these first):

  • Require email verification and consider admin approval for first posts; temporarily disable guest posting.
  • Put new accounts into a "new member" group that cannot post links or attachments until a small number of posts are approved.
  • Add a CAPTCHA or invisible honeypot on registration — try Google reCAPTCHA or hCaptcha.
  • Reject disposable or known-spam email domains and check signups against a spam database such as .
  • Hold posts that contain external links for moderator review.
  • If you see bursts of signups or posts, use rate-limiting and a CDN/WAF (for example Cloudflare) to slow scripted attacks.

Next steps: keep your forum software and any anti-spam mods up to date, search your platform’s mod repository for “spam” add-ons, and train one or two trusted volunteers to handle a moderation queue. For a reliable overview of automated attack types, see the OWASP guidance: . Specify your forum software and version and targeted plugin suggestions can be provided.

Maybe what goes around, comes around?

The best you can do is to be on guard of your site all the time until the spammers get tired of visiting your site.
