I’ve been noticing a shift in how websites are optimizing their content. Traditional SEO, which focuses on things like rankings, backlinks, and keywords, is still important, but AEO is becoming more relevant with tools like AI assistants, chatbots, and featured snippets.

AEO is basically about formatting content so it directly answers what people are searching for, making it easier for assistants like Google, Alexa, or Siri to pull the right info.

I’ve also seen agencies <snipped> talking about combining SEO and AEO strategies for their clients. Has anyone here worked with them, or with other agencies, trying this approach? How effective has it been in practice?

IMHO, the AEO is a subset of what you should already be doing for SEO. You should already be using structured data for Google. Now LLMs can benefit from it as well.

Yeah I have noticed the same thing. SEO is still important and I don’t think it is going anywhere anytime soon. But AEO feels like the next step, especially with how people are using AI tools and voice search more now. From what I have seen, combining both actually works better. You still need strong SEO to get visibility, but writing clear and direct answers helps a lot with snippets and AI results. It is not instant, but it definitely improves reach over time.

Honestly SEO and AEO overlap way more than people make it sound. If your on-page SEO's already solid, you're most of the way there. Main thing that changes is formatting, direct answers up top, FAQ-style content, schema so assistants can just pull the answer instead of digging through paragraphs.

What's actually worked for me: FAQPage schema, keeping answers short (2-4 lines), answering the question right away instead of three paragraphs in.

Agencies selling AEO as its own separate thing, kinda skeptical tbh. Feels like it should just be part of good SEO, not a whole new service.
