If you are interested in learning about IP Addressing, there are a lot of online tutorials that cover this topic. For example, the most basic information about an IP Address (IPv4) is that

  • Its a 32 bit address
  • Expressed in 4 octets, 8 bits each
  • Normally written in decimal dotted notation

For example, 192.168.0.1

The IP address has a network, subnet ID, and host ID.
