So after installing a 1 GB stick of RAM and taking the CR battery out and in my Dimension 4500 will not boot. I get three beeps and then nothing. No output to the monitor and no detection of the keyboard. I've checked and double checked that absolutely nothing was loose and now I'm at a loss.

that computer can only handle 512MB per slot max for a total of 1GB maximum.

a 1GB stick per solt will not work so the computer thinks it has bad RAM, thats why you get 3 beeps.

Dell Dimension 4500 beeps on startup and does not boot

After installing two 512 MB sticks of RAM, my Dimension 4500 will not boot. I get three beeps and then nothing. No output to the monitor and no detection of the keyboard. I've checked and double checked that absolutely nothing was loose and now I'm at a loss. Please help.
