hey its me again!

this time with more complex problems...

while i was playing driver parallel lines, at the beginning where you have to speed away.
as soon as i went into the big park space the game froze...

after a few seconds it loaded and continued gameplay.

a few seconds later it froze again, never to load progress again!

here is a snapshot of the hardware usage and temps

Is my pc running hot?

my 8800GTS was running at 69 degrees celcius

A few focused tests will separate heat, power, driver, and RAM faults without guessing.

Start with controlled GPU checks. Run a short GPU stress/soak using FurMark while watching sensors in GPU-Z or HWMonitor. Look for sustained temperature rise, fan failure, visual artifacts, or throttling right before a freeze. Clean dust from the card and verify the PCIe power plugs are fully seated. If noise or physical damage is found, treat that as a prime suspect.

Because raised power as a possible issue, validate the supply under load. Use the to estimate needs, and, when possible, swap in a known-good PSU for a quick isolation test. Check for bulging capacitors on the PSU and motherboard. Measuring 12V rail voltages under load (multimeter or PSU tester) will show sag that can crash a system.

Also rule out memory and driver problems. Run MemTest86 for several passes to exclude RAM errors. Do a clean graphics-driver reinstall using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) from Guru3D and then install the vendor driver from the official site. Inspect Windows Event Viewer or created minidumps for driver faults if the freezes leave logs.

Recommended order: stress-test + monitor, memtest, clean driver reinstall, then swap PSU or GPU. Keep safety in mind when handling power hardware. If the problem reproduces under a synthetic stress test, the hardware side (cooling, card, or PSU) is most likely.

here are my specs,

GPU:Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS shader clock 1800mhz mem speed 800mhz core clock 550mhz
RAM:1.7GB 612mhz ram
CPU:AMD athlon X2 +5200 512Kb cache (2.7GHz each core!)
Power: Codegen 550W
Mobo: Gigabyte S-Series GA-M56S-S3 Gaming motherboard/w nvidia Nforce 560

the 8800 needs a 550w+ power supply, with a combined power of ~40a minimum (dual +12v rails is a must!)

what are the specs of your existing power supply

this 8800GTS has a min power usage of 450W and a reccomended 530W.

my PSU has a output of 530W and i know the 8800 is receiving enough power because not too long ago i won a benchmark in sydney showgrounds =-D

and yes it does have 2x12v rails, i also checked the voltages with speedfan and theyre all exactly powered to spec.

also 2 of the fans are ultra big and 2 are extremely small to keep dust out =-)
