I have a Dell Latitude C640 laptop and it came with the Sound Controller of Crystal WDM Audio Codec. Once my laptop crashed when I was listening to Windows Media player and after that when I startup my laptop the "Crystal WDM Audio Codec" device is disabled and an yellow icon shows up next to it under "Device Manager".

I could uninstall the device and scan for hardware changes, which identifies the Audio device and installs the necessary s/w. But after reboot, it is the same issue. When right clicked on the Properties under Device Manager, it said "Device cannot start (code 10)". There is no resource confliction. When I uninstall and scan for h/w changes, it installs under IRQ (PCI) 5.

Can somebody help me how I can fix this permanently?

Any help gurus?
