i have a sempron 2500 sitting here, and its not under supported processors, but it should work anyway right? since it is socket A?

As its a socket A, in general it should support socket A Semprons.

If you check out the DFI web page for this board, and then look at the BIOS updates, you will see that a BIOS update has been released so that this board will recognise a Sempron processor.

The BIOS update was dated quite some time ago, so there is a reasonable chance that your board will come with the updated BIOS on it anyway, just to be on the safe side download the BIOS from that web site, and then you have it either way.
