From what i kno, no one messed around with it, it just happened.
anyways, now my moniter shows red as a deep grey, an it is also distroting everything, and making them smaller. I think i might have done that trying to fix the color and can't figure out how to fix it!!
Will someone please help me!

Symptoms of a missing red channel combined with geometry changes and a smaller image most often point to a hardware fault rather than a Windows setting. describes three distinct clues — red appearing as grey, visible distortion, and reduced image size — that together make a failing monitor (red amp/gun or deflection circuitry) or a failing video output (bad cable/connector or GPU output stage) the most likely causes. and were on the right track recommending swaps and checks; the steps below narrow the fault without repeating basic “check the plug” advice.

A focused diagnostic sequence:

  1. Observe the monitor’s built-in OSD (on‑screen menu) and any internal self-test pattern. If the OSD and menus are also missing red, the monitor is at fault; if the OSD looks normal while the input image is wrong, the problem is upstream (cable/GPU).
  2. Check color before the OS loads: look at the BIOS/POST or boot splash. A missing red channel there indicates hardware, not drivers.
  3. Swap the video cable and try another known-good video output (another port, onboard VGA if present, or a different connector type). Inspect connectors for bent pins or damaged shielding.
  4. If the problem appears only inside the OS, boot Safe Mode (generic VGA driver) and reinstall/update the graphics driver.

Notes on likely causes and safety: CRTs can lose a single color when a color gun or its driver fails; degaussing may help briefly but failed tubes/driver boards require professional repair. LCD panels or panel driver boards can also lose a color channel, and panel repairs are often more expensive than replacement. Never open a CRT or attempt high-voltage repairs; leave those to qualified technicians. If the device is under warranty, pursue an RMA; otherwise, the above checks will indicate whether replacement is the practical next step.

What have you fiddled with ? the controls on the monitor itself ? or the display properties control panel in windows ? (I assume you're using windows)

i have tried all of that and nothing is working

Either a loose connection or your monitor is going out. I had a tv just do that this week on me.

Ok all I can suggest is like Phaelax, check your connections are nice and solid both ends. Try another monitor if you can get hold of/borrow one, or try plugging your monitor into another PC if you can get/borrow one. this will decide if the fault is the monitor or your graphics card.

In the control panel reduce colours and resolution to the lowest, see how it looks, work up from there.

Have you put anything new close to your monitor recently ? is it LCD or CRT? if you have two large CRT monitors next to each other they can distort each others displays with their magnetic fields. Mobile phones don't help either.
