I want to make my older 1999-era hard drive a slave to a newer 2003-era hard drive, as a secondary drive. The older hard drive has 8 jumper pins, while the newer hard drive has 10 jumper pins. If I follow the instructions to make the older hard drive a slave (which is just removing the jumper, which I did), and the newer hard drive is already set to be a master or single, would there be any problems because of the different amounts of jumper pins between the drives?

You will experience no problems.
