All my PCs have IDE drives, but I have a couple of external SATA drives, oner of which has failed. I have SpinRite 6 which managed to fix failed drives in the past. Trouble is the BIOS has to recognise the drive before SpinRite can get to work. I thought about adding a PCI card with SATA ports, but AFAIK the BIOS wouldn't recognise the PCI card until PC boots up. Anyone any experience of adding SATA to an older motherboard so the BIOS recognises the SATA drives?
