My dell 3000 won't power up after a thunderstorm. The computer
was on during the thunderstorm and suddenly died. Could you tell
me how to check if the problem is due to the power supply or the
motherboard? Thank you very much!

Are you getting any lights on the front of the machine when powering up?

Have you tried disconnecting power for the motherboard for 5 minutes then try and power up again?

No light on the front. On the motherboard, there is a small green LED. When I plug the power cord, the LED is light. Does that mean the power supply is OK? How can I check the power supply? I heard that
I need to short two pins of the 20-pins connector. Could you tell me
more details for checking the power supply? Thanks

Sounds like she is toast to me.

If the machine is still under warranty dell can overnight you a new one.

I would not mess with that PS.

Get your self a new one.

From dell MAX it can be if needed ot purchase is 30.00
